I’m trying a new thing regarding saving and that’s just not spending money. I have enough to cover my bills and rent and other than that my bank account should not be touched. I’ve already failed but I have to just do it again starting today and with the coming checks. It’s hard but necessary!!!
I'm still on a budgeting journey. Gotta say saying no to myself (or my family) is the toughest thing. Especially when I am at the end of my endurance. Easy drive-thru food instead of trying to scrounge together dinner…sure, right? No.
Just gotta say no. Not saying it gets easier, but it's better to start trying.
Remember telling yourself no is saying yes to something else.
I decided to stop telling myself no. Best decision EVER! If I want something, I simply add it to my budget. I use sinking funds to cover expenses outside of normal spending. Works great! Usually, by the time I've saved up enough to purchase whatever it is I'm saving for, I don't even want it anymore. Go figure!
I've learned to window shop online, I'll leave a tab open with the product and eventually I'm able to forget about it or distract myself with something else. But I'll admit it's tempting for the first few hours then I usually do some research about it and move on.
Even if it's a few $1 items…
Do I really need this?
Trust me, it's worth it to say no now!! I've been frugal my entire life and it finally came to fruition when I bought a new car with a 60% down payment. I'm in 1.5 years from a 4 yr loan and I'm 90% done paying off the car. I could've paid it off in the beginning but I want a better credit mix with an auto loan.
saying no to myself is hard. Saying no to my family is impossible. You just gotta think hhmmm what does everyone NEED…. kids don't understand the difference yet
