Is a secured credit card a good way to start building your credit? Does anyone know of any legitimate businesses that actually help you work on your credit and not just take your money? I used Lexington Law before and they didn't do anything to be honest? Thanks in advance, I'm looking forward to hearing any and all advice.
@Shakira - I haven't heard of Lexington Law before, but secured credit cards are supposed to be great for building credit. I opened an account in college and helped me build my initial credit.
Secured cards can work. Just be smart, start small and really make paying your bill a priority each billing statement. Set calendar reminders. Set up auto-pay from your bank account if you can. Try to only use the card for what you can pay off each month. The interest and extended debt can really add up. If you find yourself in a pinch, immediately contact the card company to discuss your situation. Often, they will work with you to help, especially for a first-time need. Good luck!
Okay thank you so much. I really want to start working on building my credit again and I'm trying to find out the best route to take that I'm able to manage effectively and afford. I really appreciate the input.
I need a secured card but I'm scared ill mess up the process abd screw my credit score up again
I always want one credit scared but I’m afraid if I get not approve
Look into what your bank has to offer! My old one had a secure loan program where they put money on a CD and once you paid it off the funds were released. That helped my credit. My current bank offered a secured card in which I put my own funds away to establish a “credit limit”. After a while I was able to get approved on my own for a regular credit card! Hope this helps! 🥰
I have a secured credit card, I only use it for gas. Nothing else, my score has went up almost 150 points in a year.
It's a good way to rebuild credit
Credit cards are good. I try to use mines mainly for bills I was already gonna pay in cash like my phone bill, car insurance and cable and then pay off the balance of your credit card.

Self which you can download on Google play helped me raise my score first you do a loan with them which I pay only 25.00 per month. After 6 months of saving you can apply what you've paid to their secured credit card my score has jumped 100 points in 6 months
When using your secured card only spend 30% or less of your available credit limit. Using more reflects negatively on your report and cause points loss on your report.
a secured credit card a good way to help you establish or re-establish your credit. They are easier to qualify for than regular cards
I just got a secured card I will use for only gas. I hope my score will go up soon

If I recently got a secured card and I use my credit limit is bad to pay the whole thing off at once?
Yes, a secured credit card can help raise your credit score. After some research I obtained a secured credit card from Capital One and one from DISCOVER, as well as from SELF and a secured loan from my hometown Credit Union. I expect that all these working together will raise my credit score significantly in 6 months.
I am about to file for bankruptcy. My credit score went south when I gambled compulsively and ran up cash advances I couldn’t pay back. My credit score is in the 500 range now. I quit gambling and want to get secured credit cards and do other smart things to build back my credit. Any suggestions for me?
What's the best secured credit card with low deposit?
Can you add additional money to increase your spending limit on a secured card? If so, when is a good time to do this?
The best secured credit card with low deposit is Capital One. You can start with as little as $49.00 and get a $200.00 credit limit and then the more you send the more they will increase the credit limit. A good time to do this is at the beginning, within the first month of being approved.
I have a secured credit card and I am planning on paying it off. My credit score is going up as well.
The Harley Davidson secured card from US Bank is a good deal and you can get free checking with them if you have a credit card.
