Katrina, no worries, they will deliver the points soon.
Hi Muhammed, welcome!!
Katie, I think it was meant to happen. My hand barely touched the rim of the cup and it tipped, but fortunately it was all junk mail. I put all the tax paperwork in a small pile on the kitchen counter. I was kinda in awe, LOL. I didn't have to dry any tax forms and I cleaned up a cluttered desk space… now I just have to find a reasonably priced carpet cleaner/cleaning company.
Good to see positif outcame from members
Candice, I find that oxy clean mixed with a little water works wonders on carpets. I use it with a tiny scrub brush to spot clean in between carpet cleanings. With four kids I wouldn't be able to afford to do them as often as they need it, lol
When we bought our last house I made sure everything was tile/wood because cleaning carpets is such a pain! :) I also invested in a robot vacuum that runs daily to keep our main area dust bunny free. It does a pretty good job and saves me more time during my week.
Hope you guys have a great weekend! Nothing exciting going on for us this weekend. Should be a relatively no-spend weekend.
Oke buddy
Thanks Katie, I'm planning to go grocery shopping tomorrow. I will add oxy clean to the list.
Sarah, have a great no-spend weekend.
Hi Agunf and Abdul!!
Good morning! This week I'm going to take a look at my monthly automated savings categories and make some changes. I set them up last May and I think my priorities have changed. On Friday I had a scare that my furnace was broken. It got down to 59° inside and wasn't blowing. I didn't notice at first because I have it set to 55° during the day but it didn't work when it was supposed to go back up. I was worried about the cost of an emergency weekend visit from a heating company. Luckily, I turned it off and on when I realized it and it started working about an hour later. I think I need to boost my home repairs savings to prepare for a larger cost like that would have been.
@Katie P: I am glad that a weekend home-repair visit was avoided [for the time being]. I hope the re-evaluation (and execution) goes smoothly. I might need to do the same for myself. Currently, I am "burrying" my donations into my regular "expense" and I think it might be becoming a blind-spot. Do not get me wrong, I want to donate more if I can, but I also want to know what exactly I'm doing when looking back at a glance.
@Katie This is something I have been neglecting in my budget. Our latest house was new construction. I have not started saving as much as I should towards replacement costs for appliances/home repairs. I have a spreadsheet set up at one time listing the age and cost of each replacement so I would know exactly how much I would need to save each month for each upcoming replacement based on average replacement times. The amount has usually averaged out to 250-260/mo for all major appliances/repairs. I've been saving about $100 towards that in my SF account, but I've used some of those funds towards yard stuff (trees, shrubs, sod, etc) as our backyard was a dirt patch when we moved in. I probably have some catching up to do.
Hope everyone has a great week!! My focus this week is to be as no-spend as possible. We did buy a planned purchase earlier than planned (but still budgeted for in this month) over the weekend, so we were mostly no-spend. Still no update on my pay raise or my final tax forms, so it'll be another long week of waiting for those.
Have a great week ahead!!
Ok
Hello! The week didn't start off like I planned. Super busy at work, not enough hours in the day. But I set myself up to finish a few things today and coast through the end of the week. I try to get some of my personal finance planning done while I'm working because I've found that I'm always too tired if I save it for after work. No progress on that yesterday but I'm hoping today is quieter!
I've been battling with being really busy at work too!! It does make the day go by much faster and these days I can't tell if that's a good or bad thing.
I think I'll probably have to work on my budget before the payday this weekend.
That's so true, Candice, the day flies by when work is back-to-back! I still haven't had time for finances but I am making sure to be active. It's so easy to stay at my desk and work, work, work - then realize I've been sitting all day. I've been taking a 30 min walk once each day and on Tuesday and Thursday I climb the stairs from the first floor to the 5th and back 3 times per shift. It really helps to clear the mind and destress. Hope everyone is having a great week!
Ooh, does anyone else have tips for coping with long/busy days at work?
I tend to hyper-focus at work which leads to sitting at my desk in the same position for too long. I usually try to remember to get up every so often and stretch (I have my own office with a door that closes, so that helps). I also make it a point to look out side (or at something far away) to give my eyes a rest from the screen. Only one flight of stairs at my work, so I can't do much there, but we are across the street from a nice park and shopping center. When I have it in the budget or have redeemed enough rewards, I'll treat myself to lunch and walk over to pick it up.
Why
Good suggestion for the eye strain, Sarah! I always forget about that and when I go for a walk I generally look down at my feet. I'll try to start looking up and out so my eyes can get some exercise too.
Hi, Muhammad!
Happy Thursday everyone! Tomorrow is my Friday off, so quitting time starts my weekend today.
Hopefully going to knock a couple long term projects off of our home projects list this weekend. We've been living in our house for almost two years and still haven't unpacked everything, lol. It'll make for a fun weekend!
Apparently our pay raise will be in our next paycheck (Tuesday) but I have not received my memo from HR yet. So another few days of waiting, boo, but at least I know I will find out soon. And still waiting for that last tax form. Gah! Waiting is lame!
@Sarah, hopefully you get a higher increase after working so hard to get your licensure! Luckily you have projects to keep your mind and body occupied this weekend. Make sure to let us know how it turns out next week!
I noticed they removed the points for forum posting in the activity center. So not sure if anyone is going to come back and read this, but I got my raise! And more than I asked for!! I'm literally so excited right now! Ah! I also got my taxes filed, so today is a win for a Monday. Hope you guys get the same positive energy this week!
Congrat's on your raise Sarah B! I have not been following this thread, but I am happy for you! I noticed too that the points icon for forums is gone.
