I recently noticed a section for badges and levels on my Dashboard. Currently I am at "Iron" and have xx amount until next level.

But what are Levels? Do they do anything, or are they just another form of motivation/progress marker/badge?

I noticed the changes since the last time I logged onto the site. I'm also wondering if the badges and levels are strictly motivational?

Hello! I am wondering this too. Just when I had everything figured out…🤔

Click on the arrows on your Dashboard page. There are pictures of the different ways you can earn different badges. I would copy it, but it's pictures, not words. Frankly, I'd rather they put more energy into having the website work better and giving us points that we've earned than doing this cutesy things that seem to be directed towards children.

Seems like it's just motivational, but it would be nice if we could earn points when we progress to new levels.

Thank you, Chris. This seems to be the consensus.

I've been wondering about the levels and badges also. Good to know.

From what it says, they are purely motivational then. TBH that's disappointing

I don’t know that levels serve any purpose other than grouping savings in amounts saved like for example highest to lowest amounts saved … I think it’s a tool you use to give yourself initiative to save up to get to the next level …

This week I didn't get my 250 points for depositing $5.

But when I check summary it says I need to save $90 to move on towards a badge.

What do these badges even do?

Yes they are a gasification for motivation, otherwise it appears they do nothing

Ok. Slightly new question:

The article a moderator posted has some information, but it doesn't nearly describe enough for me.

If it is meant to be a savings-tracker:

  • does it display a total amount for the year put into an account–even if x-amount is removed [assumed spent] from the account?
  • Or would one drop down to a "lower" level (if possible) when an amount is removed from the linked account? (I assume SaverLife still cannot tell if the money was spent or simply transferred to a non-linked savings vehicle.]

Either option doesn't seem like a good way to "track" savings from what I can imagine. Motivation, yes…but the article doesn't mention that as a reason for making this new feature.
