I totally agree with you, Tony. I have purchased a small number of altcoins I am more comfortable with the bitcoins. More and more you are seeing machines in the supermarkets where you can purchase bitcoins.

What are you supposed to do ? I really dont understand it at all.

Buy, hold it and watch it appreciate in value.

Only the future can tell you what investment is good. The bigger the gamble the higher the rewards and the greater the risk.

Do your homework and figure out when the upside / downside is very asymmetric so that you can put the probabilistic wind at your back.

M

Michael M.

Like every other investment, try to buy when it is low and sell when its high. If you can't stand to hold it till it regains after a drop you should be very careful

I am interested in crypto currency as well. Where can I find reliable information that the average person would understand?

it is unfortunate a comment by one person can have such an effect. Bitcoin is having trouble recovering from Musk's comments.

T

Tony D.

Musk was aware of the environmental impact of the energy consumption of BTC for quite a long time. It is a valid point but his messaging became critical only after his hand was slapped by the SEC followed by the Chinese Communist Party threats against TSLA. In time his ability to affect the price will gradually diminish, especially if he does divest his corporate treasuries of the 1.5 billion.

I prefer to see the silver lining. The fundamentals for significant long term growth of BTC are still in place and the probability weighted risks are a bit higher than in the recent past but still very comfortably small so if you have done your homework and are in this for the long haul this is a great chance to stack your satoshi's at a discount. Meanwhile I will be expanding my ETH holdings as the risk-reward opportunity there is looking even better as time goes on.

I recently signed up for Coinage. As I learn about cryptocurrency I can earn money….as soon as I can get off the verification waitlist.

Coinbase is the best platform out there to learn about cryptocurrency. You can earn crypto for watching short video lessons and answering a pop quiz. You can also link your bank and deposit/withdraw funds to yourself. You can earn $10 in free Bitcoin for signing up by using my referral link, here: coinbase.com/join/quiroz_tm?src=ios-link

T

Just a heads up regarding Luis's promotion of his referral link above. You have to trade $100 of crypto within 180 days of signing up for you and him to each receive a $10 bonus. $100 isn't a lot in the grand scheme but full disclosure is best.

There is also a $5 offer where you do not have to make a trade to receive the bonus (google Coinbase $5 signup offer). Many crypto sites and exchanges now offer some financial incentive to sign up. But do not fall for schemes that sound too good to be true (because they almost certainly are).

Just wanted to let others on this thread know: Current Rewards App is currently allowing bitcoin to be "redeemed" (Current provides points which can be redeemed for certain things–BitCoin being one of them) through Coinbase. (Which does have fees, as someone pointed out).

For those who may be interested: Current rewards is an app where you can earn points for listening to music (taking surveys, and playing games). DISCLAIMER: It asks that you allow it to allow ads to play on your phone's home screen, but I have not found it intrusive. Some people do not find it useful due to points-calculations fluxuating and amount of usage. (I tend to listen to a lot of music, so I can redeem $10 in gift-cards about every two weeks…but others say it takes months.)

BitCoin:
I have tried to learn about bitcoin recently and seem to understand the basics at least.

Virtual currency – currently limited government oversight and treated more as a stock investment (for taxes).
Currently volatile market – greater potential returns = proportionately higher risk.

Bitcoin has a unit called "satoshi" that is 1 / hundred millionth? of bit coin. «< This is where I get so confused as I cannot fathom why the unit[s] would be so different from each other…

Could anyone who invests in Bitcoin let me know: since satoshi seems more attainable than a single bitcoin, are the "balances" measured in satoshi and bits?

Coinbase and Gemini charge too many fees. I use Voyager and earn 5.5% on my bitcoin.

Wow. How long have you been using Voyager?

I am new to bitcoins. My family was just discussing bitcoin. Do I have to sign up and get free $5? And do I have to load money to bitcoin? I need more info. about bitcoin please group.

Hi Michelle,

To answer your question..no you dont need to add any money upfront with coinbase. Here is a 10 buck referral you can use: Hi - I've been using Coinbase which makes it really easy and safe to buy, sell, and store digital currency (like Bitcoin). Sign up now and get $10 of free Bitcoin when you buy or sell at least $100 of digital currency. Claim your referral https://www.coinbase.com/join/XVDVVG?src=android-share Let me know if you need help, we can help you here in the forum.

I literally just signed up for it and I am fast on my way already to earning good money. After you get set up with an account you go to learn and earn section. You watch very short snippets that teach you about different parts of bitcoin. Each one is worth a certain dollar amount (they show you actual cash value above the learning snippet) upon completing the money you earn is used to purchase bitcoin in the area you learned about. From there you can buy more with cash but you dont have to and you can trade (if you have $3 in bitcoin a and $3 in bitcoin b, you could trade bitcoin a if you dont want it and for example get another $3 in bitcoin b.

Its fun cuz it teaches u about trading like in stocks and none of the money you are investing came from your bank account it all came from learning tutorials.

So what if you want to cash out? Say you earned $20 total and invested but u want to take the money. Click the center button at bottom of app and choose Sell. The bitcoin shares get sold and the $20 goes into your bank account. Hope this helps. I have a thread in here you can find by doing a search for "bank promos" in there i am going to keep posting my progress. Right now at $20 and that was only in a few short hours.
