I don't have the tolerance for risk when it comes to things I don't fully understand. I get that crypto is a trend right now, but I'm personally shying away from it until I understand it better.
Right now DOGE looks like a slot machine that just hit a jackpot. It is definitely THE top performing cryptocurrency of 2021 by A LOT but seems to be exploding for all the wrong reasons. If it is truly being driven simply by Elon Musk's tweets and a GameStop 2.0 crowd of speculators then beware! Nobody knows when this fever pitch will break and we fall back to Earth. I bought it when it was at 0.005 cents just as a fun non-serious play but it has turned out to accidentally be my best performing asset of the decade. I don't think I'll be doubling down though. All I can say is "Much Wow, Such Lucky, Very Rocket!"
I also bought Dogecoin at $0.05 as a test while I tried to understand cryptocurrency. I did cash it out after it moved to $0.62 and made a nice profit. It's not something I have continued to invest in. I took the profits and moved it to more reliable stocks
Aaron - yes

I agree, I just happen to have some extra money in my rh account at the time and invested in dogecoin. Then it blew up and I had a 9000% return.

Dang! Can't complain about that one bit. Congrats by the way.

Hi Sheryl, looks like you bought it at 5 cents, I bought it at 0.5 cents just because the meme is fun, not as an investment. Didn't cash out but not adding either. I suspect it will eventually fall back to Earth but what a ride! This feels like the crypto version of tulip bulbs.
I am waiting for it drop to 30 cent

It's at .29 now and will probably drop more today.
Dogecoin is a scam that you can make a lot of money off of, but eventually, it's going to crash and burn permanently, and a lot of people who didn't sell are going to get hurt. Who knows when that happens. But as Bitcoin begins to lose dominance against things like Ethereum, all of these useless little altcoins, such as doge, are going to crash. Ethereum, XRP, DOT, MATIC, etc etc are all way better investments, especially ETH.
I believe Brandon M. is thinking correct.

I like the tulip reference.
Yes, although I highly doubt DOGE can maintain its current value for the long term, I don't think it will be worthless, at least with a fair number of companies now accepting it as payment. It does offer better transactional throughput than BTC and some others but it also has some serious limitations. Clearly Musk has driven much of the crazy speculation but I am pretty sure it is just a fun meme exercise for him. If and when he stops his pseudo support it will collapse I suspect, but not to zero.
I agree

Look into cardano, it has a lot more promise than doge.
I think cryptocurrency is too new to judge. I'm going to wait a few years and see how it works out before I think about investing in it.
Do you guys think it will go up ? I’m not sure if I should cash out. My average I bought was 12 cents and it’s at 30 ish cents now but I’m hoping it will go back up?
It seems like Musk is bent on pushing DOGE higher by whatever means he can so yes, in the short term it will likely increase. Whether it can maintain its value and for how long remains to be seen. It doesn't seem like a long term investment to me but I won't bet against Musk over short time frames.
the dog is cuter!
Interestingly it seems Musk's tweets have failed to pump DOGE several times recently. Has Elon's magic touch for DOGE gone away? Those fickle cryptomarkets, what can you do?
Who creates cryptocurrencies? Like..can I just make one up!? Its all so confusing..where do you even buy it from?
Cyptocurrencies are mined; they are a reward to miners who spend energy to run algorithms on super computers. You can buy them from a couple of marketplaces such as coinbase, robinhood, etc
