I'm just beginning to dip my toe in putting a few dollars of my saving into investments (don't worry, emergency fund is NOT going in there!)

Does anyone have any preferred sites for stock info? I've read a lot about how to read stock info, but I need a way to get that (current) info beyond just looking at the actual exchange page

In particular, I'd love to know a site that calculates various moving averages… I'm not up to calculating those myself (at least not for long term numbers, and short term isn't my style…)

Thanks!

Honestly, I'm somewhat conflicted with the statements here. Quick answer would be to use Barchart.com (On the right click see more after you type in a ticker and on the next page on the right toward the bottom and there is another see more for different calcs) or Tradingview.com (Technicals Section)

Why am I conflicted? Well it's this statement, "short term isn't my style…" Yet moving averages are a very technical aspect and require an active trader mindset. It's very likely you will trade in an out within a year otherwise you would be taking a risk by letting it ride unless you are using some kind of fundamental analysis to choose your stock and then technicals to time your entry.

Just my thoughts, hopefully the websites help.

Thanks for that insight, it's primarily why I was looking for a site that would calculate moving averages for high numbers of days, to be more about longer term shifts, and you're right, I'm more looking for the right time to buy stocks that I've already decided are strong choices

That's great. I'm glad this is the case.

Thanks for the insights. It make me uneasy to think about stocks. I'll keep tuned in to see and learn more.

No problem. Don't just stay tuned in. Ask questions as well. it will help you get points on saverlife and hopefully someone might answer your question.
