I was doing fairly well saving for retirement…but now have been furloughed due to COVID-19 for four months and don’t know if I’ll get my job back. It’s discouraging and a bit terrifying.

COVID has changed a lot of things and it has been an eye opener as well. But you can not let that get you down. You have to look at it in a new light. And, what I mean by that is, yes it is terrible with people losing their lives but now is the time to get to know yourself even better. If you weren't happy with your previous employer, this is the time to find what you really want to do with your life (never too old or young to change your life/thinking).
Have FAITH, be safe and pray that it will get better with time.

That’s great advise and a mood booster. It’s hard to be positive with the uncertainty that’s around us daily though.
I pray everything gets better soon for all of us

It is rough, give yourself permission to feel how you feel. I lost my job in 2009. It was hard but I was grateful that because so many were unemployed there was extra financial help available and less stigma. Because of the way the crisis happened, employers knew that lots of good people were being let go, not just the chaff and I think that helped me get re-employed.
