maybe for a year or two
but does that affect social security
USA for me
USA for me
Social security pays the same regardless of where you retire, though there are some places they will not directly pay your account. Debit cards can be used to draw money in most countries.
Daniel C. and Brian C, I understand. I had a foreign borne wife who stayed by me for over 43 years in the US. US doctors told me they expected her high blood pressure to only allow her a couple of more years. We retired to Japan, her country, where they also have great medical. That was 11 years ago, she is doing well. We do not live in a large city so cost of living is not too bad. Required national insurance is about $700/year, and cover 90% for those over 75. I miss the US a great deal, but would miss my wife more.
USA
I know a lot of Americans who have retired in the Philippines, Japan, Honduras, and Colombia and they have all been able to live like kings for half the price of moderate living in the States. Mind you, they all prepared for years before getting to where they were going.
Personally, I'd rather stay in the US.
