There are also several bank accounts that pay high interest rates for savings account such as Ally Bank. Check it out.

Ally is down to .6, I wouldn't recommend that.
Which one would you recommend and what is the interest rate?
You can also look into joining credit unions that pay high interest rates on both savings and checking accounts and in some cases all you have to do is donate $5 to a charity. Check out Allliant Credit Union and Pentagon Credit Union (if you have a parent or sibling that is military or discharged you can still join this one). Sometimes credit unions offer better options if you need additional financial tools down the road. You won't have to jump through hoops to get credit approval for home, car and personal loans if needed.

Thank you for the starting points. Guess it's time for me to start hunting/inquiring again.
Has anyone seen a high interest savings account lately?
Not really. The highest I've come across is (supposedly) 0.5% at Marcus/Goldman Sachs and/or Citi Bank. Neither do I have personal experience to confirm the advertising…Next highest seems to be 0.4%.
But considering federal interest rates (NOT to be confused with inflation) are still near zero I do not really expect any type of savings besides previously purchased bonds (and potentially investments made/being made to be at or above 1%.)
Savings accounts still don't compare with mutual funds for earning interest for the long run.
@Manuel M Are mutual funds like CDs?
Hmm, doesn't seem like these are all that great then. Anyone with personal testimony to using one/some of them?
