This is great advice
Heya! So….longer story shorter: after just getting pregnant with kid #3, I found out that I will be forced retired, (11 years into my career.) I have about a year until it goes down, I'm only in my 30s, and I'll be getting enough to cover the mortgage every month, not to mention I have a very supportive spouse; however, I'll be moving halfway across the country and transitioning to a completely different career field with not a whole lot to show for in savings, (I did NOT save in my 20s because, well, I wasn't very smart and assumed everything would just, "work out.")
I'm confident we'll do at least enough to get by, but still, I want to do as much as I can to prepare now before everything starts. I have a year. I can fake it 'til I make it.
As silly as it may sound, I have found a stark difference in bills since I started to unplug everything in the house while it's not in use. I started to buy store brand toiletries, cleaning supplies, and coffee and now I only buy meat in bulk when it's on sale and freeze it until it's time to be cooked. I switched from dryer sheets to wool balls, began to use cloth towels instead of paper, installed some insulation tape in the frames of the doors and windows, and started negotiating prices with my phone and insurance companies. All of these little things have allowed us to put away an extra $300 per month.
Saving this month
When do we know who wins
When do we know who wins
Good point.
We should all try to have an emergency fund even more at this time. Having a little is better than nothing.
Well, I know I didn’t win. So much for that theory.
I love to save
I save a lot when I shop at stores that use electronic coupons like Walgreens and Dollar General. I use store brand products instead of name brand.
My name never shows up in the leaderboard because I only have 2 letters in my first name. LOL
I've been saving for my emergency fund and I entered in the race to save $100 and I actually won the $100 in last month's race. Was so shocked that I won.
