As a child, even my parents did everything they could to make me see and understand the value of a dollar. My dad has always said I have a steak appetite on a bologna diet. Way above my means. Now I am not vain or stuck up. I just want what I want when I want it. I never worried about money. It was my parents at first that handled all that. Then I was married twice and both times just handed over the reins of control to them. I just did not want the responsibility. Well, let me tell you, that did not serve me very well in the end. I am proud to now say I keep a very tight watch on my finances. I have raised my credit score over 150 points, as well as paying old bills so they did not go on my report. Regardless if they were mine or his responsibility. It was in my name I took care of it. And for most of the year, I have had a savings account, the first one in my life and I am 42, SMH. I am not where I want to be, but I am headed in the right direction now. I can promise I won't be handing my money over ever. I wanted to share, cause we all have to start somewhere.
