One of the ways I've heard is great for budgeting is the envelope method. You divide your money into envelopes for all the reasons you may need to spend money, and you only use what's in the envelopes. When the money is gone, you're done spending. Obviously, there should be an envelope for extra money that you can use for whatever, but that can be used for bills or whatever in the case that something changes. Any money left over would go into your savings envelope and/or into a savings account.

We're so glad this budgeting method works for you, Terry!

The envelope budgeting works good for me. But now I have a separate account that I put money in every month for my automatic payments that are set amounts. That has been during great. And I do still have an envelope at home for extra money too.
I love the envelope budgeting.
I do an electronic version. We put our food money on a cash card. It works great
