Can I get closed credit cards off my report
Can I get closed credit cards off my report
Most closed accounts will stay on your report anywhere from seven and a half to ten years from the date the account was last reported or when the account was closed.
I thought using a retail credit card was a good way to build my credit since I wanted better work clothes & credit score. I bought items on sale and clearance using a low percentage as well as managed paying my payments on-time. Once I decided to stop shopping, my card was closed for "non-use" and I'm now considering removing these from my report. I heard that it would boost my score. Is that correct? I planed on opening a secure card instead although if there's a way, I would like to know how to remove closed cards off my report as well. Thanks : )
I personally don't use any credit card. I feel like if I have access to one it will only tempt me so I'm sti king to cash and debut only
Here's a link to an article from Experian with some good info

I have a $2400 credit card that's supposed to be specifically used at furniture stores but I haven't used it yet. Just opening it alone has had a positive affect on my credit score, even with no activity since I got it.
if you remove your credit card it could drop your score because age on credit reports looks good and if you stop the age credit reports will penalize you
This is a good tip
It's 1 think to use credit for rewards and credit building if you are able to pay it off monthly.
But I think many here could be better off using credit cards sparingly and instead shop with a rewards debit card like Stash or many others.
if you close good accounts they won't lower your scores
In my experience, retail cards close themselves after not using them for a certain period of time. I've had a few do that automatically. I'm not sure how it effects my credit score, but I'm hoping it's not negatively!
Hi
keep them open - it lowers your score when you close them
I close cards if they carry a fee that I feel is not worth it given my usage.
no fee credit cards only
Good information help in having more knowledge.
I received an email from my credit card company stating they will close my account if I don't use my card I made a $13 dollar purchase and waited for purchase to post and paid off.
thanks, didn't know all these earlier.
Need one
I prefer to use my debit card instead of a credit card. I will apply for a credit card if I ever have time to do this. I would only sign up for a credit card that has a low rate.
Can I reopen a closed cc acct
No
I have 0 credit because I never had credit card
