Building credit does take time. Are you utilizing your credit cards correctly?

Do you pay off your credit cards in full? If not, that'll decrease your utilization, which will bump up your credit score.

Shannon P is correct. Some negative items like bankruptcy take 7 years to fall off your credit reports. Other lesser factors like length of time your credit accounts have been open. Counterintuitively, paying off your mortgage can make your credit score go down. Also, any improvement of your score beyond 750 has no real benefit. agreed make sure if your not paying it off every month you're atleast keeping utilization under 30%

Keep making on-time payments and work to get the utilization under 30%. also avoid applying for new credit too often.
