Please, I urge you to read the Netspend article in it's entirety so you can understand exactly how to prep yourself, get the card, and do everything precisely so that your 5% savings account goes off without a hitch.

Introduction:
Financial Panther has laid out a way to get 5% on up to 5 Netspend accounts without ever having to use the Netspend card. There is a savings account that is linked to the card once you make your first deposit. I have 5 in my name and 5 in my husbands. You only earn 5% on the first 1k. So I have 10k earning 5%. There is also a credit union called DCU offering 6.17%!! Wowza!! No typos as to the percentages in this post. Yes, 5% and 6.17%, however, only upon the first 1k. It is worth checking out. Check out the money blog article first, and if you think you are game for it, come back and use my referral link. You will get $20, free and clear, to add to your savings account, and so will I. That's $40 that they will give away just for you signing up. $20 for you and $20 for me. You must make your first deposit to the Netspend account to see the $20. Also, you only get it on the first card that you activate with my referral link. You may get all 5 cards, but will only receive $20 for one of them. So definitely don't forget to use my sign up link for that. I would be so grateful. Ensure that when you "request" the card to have it sent to you, that it is done through my link….this is the process where you enter your name and address and you may even get to pick the color or design of the card you want.

To get started, Google "Netspend Financial Panther", and be careful because he has two articles out on savings and both speak on Netspend, but only one of them gives you the complete run down and directions on acquiring the Netspend account.

As an alternative, you can use this link which will bring you to his article.

My advice is to read that article in it's entirety to get a full grasp on how to open these accounts and how to work them just right to get the 5% without a hitch. Before signing up for any of the Netspend cards, you will need access to a checking or savings account that allows you to make transfers and withdrawals. If you are planning to open up all 5 cards with Netspend, then you will need to ensure that you can add those Netspend accounts, to your savings or checkings, to withdraw and transfer to. You will also need to ensure you sign up for the "pay as you go" plan on the Netspend card(you will never use it), so that you never incur a fee. You will need to set up recurring transfers so that you can avoid the inactivity fee on the card(s). You will need to accept and enroll in electronic communication, because the moment you don't, they will close the savings account. There are details to these high interest accounts that you need to pay attention to in order to get you to the account and start saving which the article by Financial Panther will explain in full detail.

Thanks for using my referral link. I will continue posting great finds as I come across them to help the community!! Happy savings y’all!!

This sounds great but shouldn't require a link to your bank account.

This sounds great but shouldn't require a link to your bank account.

You link your checking or savings to the Netspend checking account….no other way around that. This is not a brick and mortar bank. Alternatively, you could download the netspend apps and deposit a check, but I think that might incur fees…I’ll need to check on that. I have each Netspend account on my Discover savings account…this way I can move money into and out when needed.
