I am actively trying to build my credit for the first time in my life. As of this month, I live on a combined income of $401.00 not including the 33.66 my dog gets for her needs. And $204.00 of this is food stamps
As you can see I am clearly rolling in the dough… I am extremely lucky and have HUD housing which excepts 30% of my income as rent roughly $50.00 and $50.00 for my phone and 9.95 for my internet essential and practically live out of the dollar tree and uses food banks when necessary.
I am unbelievably grateful for everything I have and I am not complaining in the least. It is just really tight all the time.
My only is just under $7,500 in student loans. I am working with them on it.
But my dog needs a procedure and it is going to be just under $800 I just need to get care credit but I doubt my credit is good enough to apply. I have also applied for a local grant.
get a secured credit card
It didn’t help much for me
I use a government phone for now. It saves me the $50 a month.
How can I help my credit build up
For you, I would focus first on your monthly budget. And as other mentioned, start with a secured credit card that operates similar to a debit card.

May I ask what's wrong with your dog? There are a lot of natural remedies for pets too .

Need help on repairing my credit
You should apply for food stamps and a deferment for your student loans. You could also try doing a part time job with Doordash or something else.
Im trying but its not working.
Credit repair typically costs a few hundred dollars, but helps you in the long run.
paying your cards on time well help your credit score
I am also using self to build my credit. Certainly something to look into but it does take time. I also disputed all of my medical bills that were in collections using credit karma and some were actually taken off, and got a small secured credit card. I am on ssdi and have limited funds also.
I really want to get a better credit score, I have no credit history since I took the negative things off my credit report.
Obtaining a store credit card and making the payments on time can help you bring up your credit scores.
