Today's Article "How can I get a loan for a cheap used car?" is a bit misleading.
The premise is that someone wants to buy a car for $1,000 but the article talks about getting a credit union loan and such. But NOBODY will lend you money for a car over 5 years old and certainly not for a $1,000 junker.
So in reality you're probably talking about getting a $1,000 signature loan, not a car loan. However, if your finances are such that $1,000 is a need and you're unable to save that much on your own how likely are you to qualify?
Granted a credit union may be able to approve you before a bank would but they're not crazy and they're not a charitable organization. They have to be able to see a reasonable expectation for repayment on an unsecured loan and in the midst of Covid many low wage jobs could literally vanish overnight thanks to over zealous political leaders and local officials.
