I thought having new credit cards with an extra line of credit will help you raise your credit score. Why doesn't it?
I thought having new credit cards with an extra line of credit will help you raise your credit score. Why doesn't it?
Whenever a hard inquiry is done, your credit will go down by some. But after that, with responsible use of the credit card, it will get back up over time.
Hard inquiries will lower your score after you have more than two. However the inquiries will disappear off your credit in two years. Also your length of credit history lowers which also lowers your credit score.
Expanding your source of credit (a new credit card, new loan, etc.) is a long term way to improve your credit score. When credit companies do a "hard" inquiry of your credit score, your score may go down temporarily. Don't despair. Your credit score will improve over time when you pay on-time and keep your borrowing low.
Actually I thought the e opposite happens
you now potentially owe more so a lower score
It depends on your current credit card situation.
There was an inquiry on your account so it lowers your score
Why isn't this thing working?!

Does having inactive cards negatively impact credit even if there had never been activity at all
hi,
all depends of the amount of credit card that you apply for.
Can potentially borrow more so sometimes causes it to go down.
I thought it was the opposite
It should be a temporary hit
Ok!!!
