I keep my receipts and match them up to my credit cards every month to check for anything that may be wrong or reoccurring charges that I didn't authorize. Some people tell me this is a waste of time but I like to check over everything and have found a few items wrong before.
I think it’s good to keep on top of your credit cards like that. Better to find a mistake and report it than to pay it and waste money!
I have a text message sent to my phone whenever my credit card is used. This helps me be aware of any purchases made.
Sonya N. That is a good practice. While most the time things will be correct, there are occasions where there is a glitch in the system that causes something to be mischarged. It also sets a safety net in place to potentially catch fraud/identity theft [quicker] than if you just pay an amount that "seems" right.
Hoi W: I like that idea as well. I know my card often sends me texts, but sometimes if the purchase I have is below…I think it is $5 USD, I do not get a text for purchase. May just depend on a settings I am unaware of or different company rules. I know another who gets texts for every purchase.
