Has anyone invested in Fundrise? Info- With as little as $500, you can start investing in real estate through Fundrise! Plus, you’ll never have to deal with maintenance or tenants.

I haven't used Fundrise, but I've gotten a similar exposure to real estate through REIT investments.

Only thing I've tried for investing online is Robinhood which is okay

Has it been worthwhile for you?

Real estate investments are a component of the global economy, so in that sense, I guess investment in REITs has been "worthwhile" as capturing that. It's quite possible that you already have exposure to real estate through REITs if you hold broad market index funds.

Robinhood is nice financial application for investors, it has a free-trading app that allows investors trade stocks online broker's platform.

I am also interested in real estate investing. I don’t really know how to get started. I considered Fundrise, but I don’t know anyone who has used it.

Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) are an easy way to get into real estate investing. Consider something like Vanguard's VNQ, which is an ETF that trades like a stock.

An additional note on REITs with respect to tax treatment and asset location. The IRS requires REITs to pay at least 90% of income to shareholders. These payments are made in the form of dividends. As such, it often makes sense for REIT holdings to be placed in tax-advantaged accounts (401(k), 403(b), IRA, Roth IRA, HSA).

As usual @Aaron G. is on point. I believe that REITS are a great way to get into real estate. Although it may not have some of the gains as certain Fundrise Portfolio of properties, it also has less risk.

Just one thing to add is that there are two major types of REITS that are traded. Equity and Mortgage. Look into it because they have different profile and characteristics to consider.

Did anyone who was thinking about trying Fundrise or another REIT ever end up doing so? I have some interest (of course, after I'm out of debt). Just wondering if there was anyone with a real-life experience to relate.

Real estate has always been a good investment

So true. My first home I bought for 45,000 is now worth 350.k. Wish I still had it.

When it comes to owning a primary residence, the greatest return is in the imputed rent. While you can look at market value appreciation in investment properties as a return, for a primary residence, that market value appreciation is often offset by a similar market value appreciation of any replacement property.
