It's never too late to start saving for retirement because starting today is always better than starting tomorrow.

I was 33 when I got a 403B; I'm 38 now. My company offered a very generous defined contribution for a few years, then new management reduced it so I'm doing payroll deductions which are matched. I'm so grateful for the start this gave me.

I Started Saving For Myself When I Graduated High School At 18. At The Time I Had Just Moved Back To Michigan Into My Own House Where I Realized Being An Adult Is Expensive Lol. So Each Check I Started Taking 50 And Putting It Into A Savings Casually Increasing The Amount Over Time. However , I Started One For The Kid At Birth !

I want to know what is the difference between 401 and Ira.

The traditional 401k (or 403b) is analogous to the traditional IRA in terms of tax treatment. Likewise for the Roth 401k being analogous to the Roth IRA. The main difference is that the 401k is sponsored by an employer, while the IRA isn't, so the IRA generally has more investment options. There are also different annual IRS contribution limits between the two.

The younger you start saving for retirement the better. I would recommend that as soon that you graduate from college you open an account with Fidelity Investments and save a % of your income in a Roth IRA in Mutual Funds and some Stocks. Deposit a % every time you get paid. Leave it there and it will grow by the time you retire.

I didn't start until I was probably 30, but since then I have also found a job that includes a pension. That has put my mind at ease over the stress of retirement.

one year I started my job with the City and County of San Francisco, 13 years ago. The sooner, the better.

403b (tax deferred) started with $25 per pay period 25 years ago and increased the amount as my salary increased

never too early, I've been telling my friends and co-workers, if $5 is all you can afford, then that's $5 more towards retirement

Start as soon as you can no matter how little the amount is it’s an amazing practice. There are tax benefits to saving retirement.
