I've had an account for awhile but just started automated investing with it, I chose an aggressive portfolio and so far it's up:) My bank doesn't support Round Ups but I'm planning to link to another bank and utilize that feature. My advice would be to automate it, so easy to forgot to save:) I have a link for $5 if you want to try it. Let me know if you have specific questions.

How exactly does Acorns work?
Do you have to have a smartphone?
I have a dumb phone and can't use apps.

Check the bottom of that page for "compare subscription tiers" There's a $1 a month option.

I haven't tried Acorns but I have started using Stash and love it. I also use another well established bank as well as a back up and keep money in both accounts but am impressed with the round-ups feature and automatic stock buys set at very low like 5$ a week. Although I do more. And also partition some into savings.

This is the first time I've ever heard of Acorns. I have no idea what it is. I'm going to the website to find out.

Acorns is a great way to start investing using their roundups feature and/or a set investment at whatever interval you choose. I chose the moderate aggressive portfolio and so far it's doing good.

I like the acorns savings account, but the later account does not accumulate as much. I am now doing minimal savings to this, and being more aggressive with the savings.

Does anybody use Acorns or Stash and not love it? I get caught up in reviews when I'm uncertain.

Thank you for advice! I'll consider signing up and if I do I'll use your referral code.

The problem with Stash and Acorns is they are not free. One has to pay monthly fees depending on the kind of service one wants. The fees are anywhere from $1 to $9. They are not that high, but there are other companies one can go to save and invest without worrying about fees, such as Fidelity Investment.

I tried Acorns for awhile and then I thought I want more control of my savings so that come tax time I don't have an additional something like investing taxed, Also if you they can lure you with saving why can't a person save the same amount themselves? Just an opinion that's all.

I use Acorns. I’ve been using it for about a year with Round Ups and weekly deposits. Making changes to my portfolio are pretty simple. Still learning about the market and how it affects my bottom line.

I had chime for about a year and recently sent myself a check with what was left in it and then closed my account. I personally had way too many issues.

Andrea - you get money back when you purchase things online

Yes, you get a percentage of your purchase added to your Acorns account when you shop that store by going through your Acorns app. I hope that made sense.

One thing to keep in mind about Acorn is the monthly fee. If you are receiving means tested benefits you can never earn enough to justify the monthly fees.

Otherwise I'd suggest you first concentrate on a savings account to build up enough money to earn more than the fees cost.

Also keep in mind the markets are still at historic highs and is due to correct. You could lose a bundle even in quality stocks short term at least. Wait for the selloff and assess the risks.

Is this the tier you would recommend starting or staying at? I am also interested in getting started.

Hi I use both Stash and Acorns. No complaints!!

I love Stash. Acorns not so much.

Acorns has been wanting me to send them photo id before opening my account. I'm opposed. Stash didn't ask for it and I've been very happy with them.
