That way I always have a little for an emergency, even if I have to empty my bank account. My small safe deposit box only costs $27 a year. It's also good for keeping my important documents safe.

I wouldn't recommend that, the contents are not fdic insured so if anything ever happened you would have no recourse.
Make sure you keep the box safely!
I agree with Chris. I wouldn't recommend it.
Why not buy a small metal (fire/water proof) box and bury it out in the woods (record latitude and longitude) or in the walls of your house? A lot of safety deposit boxes have been "lost" or stolen or "confiscated." Banks assume no responsibility in most cases which tells you something about the risk you are assuming.
I have this old like army box something like that I use for safebox with two locks on it and I keep putting money and change in it and haven't touched any of it at all I got quite a bit of it now
Do you have a cash goal?
About to start doing the same
Yeah, what he said.
I do too
.
I recently found silver dollars and half silver dollars. Should I place them in a safe deposit?
