I was able to buy my home even though I never thought I would be able to afford it. How? Well, first I did my research. I did internet searches hoping to find programs to help low income people with expenses. I discovered that the USDA Dept. Of Rural Housing has some programs offering loans and grants to lower income families. While I didn't meet the requirements for any of the grants, I thought might qualify for one of the direct or indirect home loans that were available for very low to moderate income individuals and families. I applied and through perseverance was eventually approved for a home loan. I asked a realtor to help me find a modest home that met the necessary guidelines set by the agency and we eventually found a house I that was a good fit for the children and I. I pay part of the mortgage payment and the rest is paid with a subsidy provided by the USDA Dept. Of Housing and Rural Development. And even though I had to make some repairs to my credit before I was approved fir the loan, the end result was worth it. I can now boast that I am making mortgage payments each month to buy a home that i
