Since I’m disabled, I normally do not file. I always go through the process and when I get to the end, it says I do not need to file. However, in 2018, I started earning $25 per month a total of $300 per year, mostly in order to reduce my share of cost for Medi-Cal. When I attempted to file to see if I actually needed to file I wasn’t able to really complete it because the free filer things want you to pay money to it if you have to add any schedules and it’s either a or C that I need to add for the non-taxed worker or own business/ self-employed. But it was pretty clear that I did not have to file as I just fudged it and put it as regular income and it didn’t require filing. But during the pandemic, I believe that earned income credit was allowed to be collected not just applied towards your tax liability. And there may have been some other benefit that I am now forgetting. So, long story short if I file a return for those years now will I still get the benefit? It might be worth it to pay the $35 to get that schedule, etc.. Thanks!
