In order to build credit, you need credit.
Always utilize your credit cards but keep track of your spending. You should not be using beyond 30% of your credit limit for each card. Pay off in full every month (or set auto pay off in full).
Do not close your oldest credit accounts. Keep them alive by using them once in a while.
Get credit Karma its free…. Get a seured credit card or 2 when you have a little extra money. And just use them on one of you monthy bills and then pay your credit card like you just paying that bill every month…..don't go shopping! You will build credit fast. No debt or collections on your report…if you do have any dispute them or make payment arrangements or pay them off as soon asap. You can also take out a small loan from your bank- put it away and just take it out to pay back the loan. Hope i helped you! Good luck

In order to build a credit. You first apply for a secured credit card and always pay your full balance by the due date.
Whatever credit accounts you have, pay in full and on time always. Only take out credit you will be able to repay.

I just started using SELF. You pay monthly payments into a CD and at the end of the 24 month period you get your money back and build your credit at the same time. After 3 month months of on time payments you can get a credit card through them also.

Definitely paying on time whether it's the minimum or more, that is key. Delinquent (late) payments can hit your credit hard.

I feel like I'm running in circles trying to pay off a line of credit i obtained for my house projects. I can't seem to get ahead and I'm 60 days behind. I've been trying to build my credit for over 5 years since my divorce!

I just recently turned 49 I have MS unfortunately no husband, lost my oldest daughter I have my youngest and I feel like I put everything on her shoulders bc SS doesn’t pay squat and I can’t work so how am I supposed to save when I can’t pay my bills as it is

I’m been working on my credit and I’ve noticed I have more hard inquiries than anything. So now I’m focusing on that.
I have been working on my credit for the last 8 months or so. I realized that every time you apply for a credit card or loan, you take a hit on your credit score. So now I have to make sure not to apply for anything new. So my credit can come back from the hard credit pulls.

Apply for a couple of secured credit cards, a personal loan, a store card such as Macy's or Best Buy, and a gas card. Then make sure to use them only for your needs and pay them in full when you receive your statements.
