I try to pay my bill on time to keep my credit score up
I should have added to my last comment that a series of on-time payments will increase your score generally but there are other factors like total debt to credit ratio, credit application frequency and number and age of accounts as well. These other factors -if outside the preferred range- might lower or keep your score lower than you want even with on-time payments.
Need help
Hoping this can help me rebuild my credit to build a new house.
I want to buy a house but I’m not sure how to get started raising my credit
You have to get your collections accounts removed from your credit reports first, you must do this by freezing your credit scores on other unknown credit bureaus outside of the 3 biggest bureaus. The other bureaus are unknown by most folks but I found them and fixed my credit score by 100 plus points by freezing my collections with the unknown bureaus, then when I did this, I went to the 3 big bureaus and disputed those collections, then since I froze the big 3 bureaus out of my credit reports with the unknown ones, the big 3 couldn't see my scores so they had no choice but to take the collections off of my reports, my score boosted high after this and I was able to get nice credit cards, and my score went up by at least 40 points every month because when I got rid of my collections I added secured credit cards to my credit report and 3 small personal loans accounts that will give me all of my cashback after I close these accounts successfully in 2 years. In the next 6 months, my credit will almost be at a perfect 850 giving me the way to buy a home, car, start a business with the good credit that I established, etc. but you can't get behind in the credit cards you have to pay them every 2-3 weeks or your scores will drop like crazy. If you find this stuff, you'll find it, as I did. It took a long time from finding to disputing etc but it was so worth it. I'm happy to be on the verge of success with what I have done with my credit and on the right path to get everything in life God wants me to have. Good luck guys.
Yes, but I read that if you have a variety of credit cards and personal loans you have a better odds of increasing your credit score higher.
Has anyone tried Experian Boost and found that it worked?
What a great suggestion! Thank you!
Does anyone use a resource where rent can be reported?
It's so hard to get your credit score up when everytime I do something online it goes against it
A lot of people have said they have had success with Experian Boost but I have not. My score is pretty good so maybe it only helps when your score is average or below average. It can't hurt to try as the service is free. Just don't fall for Experian's attempt to upgrade your services every time you log in.
I used Experian Boost and my cellular phone service bill has helped raise my credit scores. The utility bills also works with the boost
One thing about Experian Boost is you kinda should stick to the same method of payment,
It seems to be unable to tell that your utility was an on time payment no matter how you paid it and treats it like a separate bill. So after 6 months if you haven't used that method they drop it out.
Why? Because they can see your bank and credit transactions but not the utility records themselves. Still, you'd think they could go by the name of the utility, right?
I use the Self app and my credit has gone up 130 pts in 9 months!
I hear that you should keep a low balance on your cards.
In order of weighting in credit score is number of negative remarks / late payments, balance to credit ratio, and credit application frequency.
Making your payments on time is one of the ways to improve your credit score.
I sometimes wonder what fraction of responses are from those who have not read the thread.
I've been making payments on time, over the minimum, for years and I've noticed that my minimum payments have increased significantly! Why is that?
@Stacey P. It could be that the interest rate went up on your account/card or they accelerated your payoff timeline for one off several reasons
It works
